The goal of the Starfire STEM Academy is to ensure equitable opportunities and access to programs that inspire and empower participants to develop STEM-enabled knowledge, skills, and mindsets needed to thrive in a rapidly changing STEM society.
Our program features project-based learning that is student-directed, requires collaboration, and addresses real world experiences and problems. Participants will be exposed to a variety of topics in physical science, life science, computer science, engineering, and data science. Some examples the projects we will tackle include building and programming seismographs, creating models of the human brain to understand and mitigate brain injury, and LEGO® WeDo 2.0 and LEGO® Mindstorms EV3.
