2018 Eddie Craggs Memorial Evergreen Cup

The 2018 reboot of the Eddie Craggs Memorial Evergreen Cup commenced over the weekend of April 20-22, with six Men’s Open teams vying for the championship. Of the teams participating, three compete in the Evergreen Premier League, one in the Western Washington Premier League, one Greater Seattle Soccer League first division team, and one corporate team. The competition was generally quite close, with every team recording at least a draw through the group stage and not a single team going through the group stage with a perfect record.

After two rounds of games, four teams were still battling it out for a spot in the championship, with the final round determining the top two teams. All-Star Moving exhibited the strength of local Seattle soccer leagues and recorded an impressive 2-0 victory over Seattle Starts to book their spot in the finals, while Tri-Cities Alliance FC found their way to the finals through a last minute goal to earn a 1-1 draw against a staunch Oly Town Artesians squad.

A beautiful championship Sunday saw Tri-Cities Alliance fly out to a 3-0 half-time lead and never look back, securing the championship with a 4-1 victory courtesy of a brace from Alex Sotelo. The victory marked Tri-Cities Alliance second consecutive Starfire Adult Tournament championship, after winning the Copa Washington last July.
