Washington Youth Soccer Coaches & Mentors Needed
A Message From Washington Youth Soccer
Soccer for Success is the U.S. Soccer Foundationโs free after school program to promote healthy lifestyles through the sport of soccer. The program operates for 90 minutes after school, three days per week, at 12 low-income elementary schools in South Seattle. Participants receive free, quality soccer programming that includes lessons on nutrition and the importance of being active. Kids also receive free healthy snacks, shin guards, jerseys, and balls. Soccer for Success works with local community organizations to provide comprehensive resources and services to the Soccer for Success community. We are committed to addressing the holistic needs of under-served children and using sport for social change. Soccer for Success focuses on four main pillars: Nutrition, Physical Activity, Family Engagement, and Mentorship. You will see the difference you make almost immediately, and leave this project with the sense of fulfillment, as well as proud. Last year, Soccer for Success occupied nine elementary schools. This year the program will occupy 12 schools and with this, an increased responsibility to deliver quality programming to each site. To take this challenge on, we need people from the community to step in and become a coach-mentor to the kids that we are serving. Please consider this opportunity. We look forward to meeting you!
Job Summary:
This position will lead the implementation and oversight of the Soccer for Success program in one of the twelve elementary school locations across South Seattle (Kent, Auburn, Highline). The coach serves as a mentor and positive role model for children. The coach must follow the U.S. Soccer Foundation curriculum and abide by all Washington Youth Soccer and school district policies. Individual program schedules will be determined by Washington Youth Soccer and the school, but format will follow: three 90 minutes sessions per week, spread over two 12-week seasons (fall/spring), immediately following the end of the school day. Start times range from 3:00 pm โ 3:45pm. Coaches will be expected to work for 2 hours on each of the three days.
