Day Three Recap
The final day of the Cascadia Summit saw the Sounders Academy face off against the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy. There was a great turnout of fans from both sides, and the stadium was filled with back-and-forth cheers between the Emerald City Supporters and the Vancouver Southsiders. Though the game started a little slow, it certainly finished with a bang. The Sounders Academy was down 3-2 at the 80th minute, and finished the game with two quick goals to win 4-3. A great win for the Sounders organization leading up to the Sounders FC/Whitecaps game.
Unfortunately, the Sounders FC did not have the same luck as their Academy counterpart. Vancouver came out strong, and were already up by two going into the 12th minute of the match. Sounders FC answered in the 45th minute, cutting the lead to one going into halftime. However, Vancouver’s lead shot back up to two almost immediately after returning to the field (minute 46). A 78′ goal by Montano gave Sounders fans hope, but the team left the Starfire Stadium with their second loss of the Summit.
